Still amidst an extensive European tour with SWANS, which stunned crowds across the UK earlier this month, Anna von Hausswolff has announced “Källan (Betatype)” for release on November 18th.

Two vinyl editions of 500 copies each are available for pre-order as of this afternoon – an Ash International edition and a Pomperipossa Records (Anna’s own record label) edition. Each feature differing screen-printed covers, both drawn and etched by Anna von Hausswolff, signed by her and numbered by the label.

“Källan (Betatype)” is the second recorded version of Källan, after Källan (Prototype), an organ piece that was recorded live during a performance at Lincoln Cathedral in 2013 and released on Touch in 2014. The piece is written by Anna von Hausswolff and inspired by Walter Ljungquist´s book of the same name, which Anna read whilst on tour with Efterklang in 2013.

“It’s about kids on a spiritual journey – they are looking for a ‘life source’ and the book is about the excitement and disappointment of the search” Anna previously explained to The Quietus. “For me, it’s a book about curiosity and the possibility that there is something more to this world than what you currently know. It’s about the realisation that even if you don’t find what you are looking for, there is something useful that you can learn from any situation.”

Ahead of her current tour with SWANS, Anna finished a second run performing in Alexander Ekman’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream for The Royal Swedish Ballet and also recently shared a new video for the remarkable 11-minute doomscape opus ‘Come Wander With Me/Deliverance’, directed by her sister, Maria von Hausswolff, which can be seen HERE. Earlier in 2016, she astonished audiences at a packed out Barbican for Nils Frahm’s Possibly Colliding, on tour with Refused and at St John on Bethnal Green for Convergence Festival.
