Omni share new single “Wednesday Wedding”
Debut album Deluxe out July 8th
on Trouble in Mind
“Omni manage to sound both methodical and unrestrained, and mesmerizing the whole way through.” Pitchfork
“…expect reference points such as Mars, DNA or Bush Tetras allied to some incredible infectious, wholly addictive melodies.” Clash
Atlanta’s Omni premiere another track from their forthcoming album, Deluxe, in the form of “Wednesday Wedding” which premiered on Clash Music today.
The band’s Philip Frobos has this to say about the single “Frankie and I labored over ‘Wednesday Wedding’ probably longer than any other song on the record. After many days of not knowing where to go with it or whether to just move on, Frankie came up with the pre-chorus guitar part (“white walls and advantages”) and almost immediately the chorus came to me. It all fell perfectly in place. ‘Wednesday Wedding’ to me is an ode to a lot of my favorite bands. I wanted to write a song that sounded like a mix of a Cindy Wilson led B-52s song and The Clean. I’m pretty happy with where Frankie and I arrived.”
Their debut album, Deluxe, serves as a fresh reminder that rock music can work outside of blues rooted, formulaic progressions without playing it safe behind a wall of effects. Arty enough to impress record enthusiasts, yet melodically attractive enough to transcend to those who’ve never asked: “Sister Midnight” or “Red Money?”
Omni is guitarist Frankie Broyles (ex-Deerhunter, Balkans), bassist/vocalist Philip Frobos (ex-Carnivores) and drummer Billy Mitchell(ex-Carnivores).
