Memory Of Elephants- Faux Carrion EP

Boisterious Bristol trio Memory Of Elephants have just surprised us with an incredible EP release, an engaging follow- up to their 2014 self-titled debut. The trio consists of  Toby Stewart on guitar, Ben Shuffler on bass and Sam Simpson on drums . Their new 3 track EP titled ‘Faux Carrion‘ perfectly captures the musicians tonality within their united outfit. Once again and now on a more mature level, the trio have orchestrated a hard hitting record that highlights the diversity of their own take on impressive DIY math rock. Once again and now on a more mature level, the trio have orchestrated a hard hitting record that highlights the diversity of their own take on impressive DIY math rock.

Faux Carrion effortlessly delves into a monumental soundscape and it’s hard to believe the sounds created in this full-bodied record reflects on just 3 members.

From the get-go Faux Carrion projects a fierce collision of mathy space rock. From That, Was A Warning Cone! through to Who The Fuck Is Runcorn? each compelling track conveys monotonous hard hitting riffs, pelting and driving beats, flirting with an ample backdrop of ambient electronic elements. The three are masters of building their tracks from the ground up; they’ve nailed those dynamic break-downs with perfectly timed and very tight enthralment.  Mathy tweaks, subtle tapping and Russian Circles– esque build up’s make this release a must-hear.

Memory of Elephants have stepped out of their comfort zone to create rushing interludes, dark progressive textrures and powerful crescendos. The three thrive on energy and high-octane atmosphere, which you can see present at any live show. That energy they create has been flawlessly captured into this recorded and conquering exploration.
