Julien Baker Embarking on First UK / European Tour
Club Shows + Festival Appearances Including Primavera Sound

Following a number of successful tours throughout the U.S. and having already shared the stage with the likes of The National and Wye Oak, indie songwriting phenom Julien Bakerwill embark on her first tour in the UK / Europe this week. The month-long run sees the young musician performing at a number of festivals, including the revered Primavera Sound in Barcelona, as well as club shows in the UK and Germany.

The Memphis, TN-native Baker’s debut album “Sprained Ankle” was released in late 2015 via 6131 Records. The album has continued to earn widespread acclaim from outlets such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, Out Magazine, Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls, RollingStone.com, Noisey, Pitchfork, Lenny Letter, TeenVogue.com, BUST, Paste, WWD, Consequence Of Sound, Time Out New York, FLOOD, among many others, in addition to spots on multiple year-end, Best-Of lists including: The New York Times, NPR Music (watch her Tiny Desk Concert, which features new song “Funeral Pyre” and has garnered nearly 330,000 views and counting, here), Stereogum, The AV Club, Paste, and New York Magazine’s Vulture, among others. Stripped-back and raw with emotion, “Sprained Ankle” – recorded in Richmond, VA’s Spacebomb Studios – is an intimate and exquisite debut.Baker wrote these nine songs across 2014, following her move from Memphis to Murfreesboro, Tennessee for college. Away from her family and close friends (including her band Forrister), writing proved to be a creative, cathartic outlet for her loneliness. The resultant songs are confessional yet accessible, personally contemplative yet universally relatable, unsparingly honest yet deeply heartening – and filled with tales of staggering experiences and striking imagery.
