Lady Bones Announce “Terse” EP

Due Out April 29th via Midnight Werewolf Records

Share “Weight” Single via AV Club

Lady Bones are excited to announce their upcoming EP, Terse, will be released April 29th via Midnight Werewolf Records. One of Boston’s best up-and-coming bands, Lady Bones released their full length debut, Dying, less than a year ago and on Terse, the trio have proven yet again they’re only getting better. Picking up where they left off with their debut, Lady Bones make gorgeously sludgy indie rock with twisting structures that shift without warning. Big crushing riffs are balanced with dense rhythms and catchy vocal melodies built upon Lady Bones’ distinctively dark twang.

AV Club debuted the EP’s first single “Weight,” sharing, “Lady Bones is still writing riffs that rumble slowly toward a thesis, but more than ever the band is putting pop conventions first. Vocalist-guitarist Sean Gilston makes use of a vocal melody that’s familiar without feeling trite, as the rest of the band chugs through riffs that are heavy yet hummable.”

Boston’s Lady Bones have been playing together since 2011 when they met as high school students. The trio, consisting of Sean Gilston (singing/guitar) Jeremy Jackson (bass) andEgon Ryan (drums) have always focused their writing style based off the member’s close friendship and cohesiveness as a unit. There is no stylistic leader of Lady Bones, the band write songs for each other; tweaking individual ideas to fit the needs of the group as a whole. Since the release of their debut EP in 2012, the band have spent time touring the East Coast and Midwest with Kal Marks, Snoozer, It Must Be Love (members of Dogs on Acid) and more. The band embody that undeniable Boston charm of the underground punk scene, Lady Bones make heavy and deeply personal music while managing to not take themselves all too seriously.

Less than a year after the release of Dying, the band’s full length debut, the trio have returned with Terse, an EP that expands on the ideas of their debut over knotted chords and winding structures, a relentless listen that blends the band’s dirty punk and grunge-influenced indie rock with polyrhythmic beats and massive walls of furious yet soulful guitars. Lady Bones channel a swampy take on the cities basement punk sound, offering an extra sense of grit and impending indie rock doom via filthy yet melodic guitars, enormous pounding drums and a heavy quaking low end rumble. There’s an undeniable influence from their surroundings, but Lady Bones have forged that into a raw howling energy. In Lady Bones’ case, Dying was only the beginning. Terse, focused on pop structures and well-trained in the Pixies playbook of dynamics, helps to prove why the band have become one of the cities finest up-and-coming bands yet again.
