Following a number of positive reviews for UK debut Feed The Fire, released in January on Bella Union, Promise And The Monster has announced news of two UK headline shows next month in Manchester and London. Dates/info below:
Monday 7th March – LONDON – Sebright Arms tickets
Tuesday 8th March – MANCHESTER – Soup Kitchen tickets
Critical acclaim for Feed The Fire, out now on Bella Union:
“A superlative album…. Billie Lindahl covers a broad stylistic spectrum on her fourth album, from gothic Americana to dreamy psych-folk to Enya-ish abstraction. A blurring of fictionalised murder ballads and heartfelt breakup songs, Feed The Fire clothes breathy, emotive vocals in weeping strings, tremolo guitar twangs and ethereal electronica.”
Uncut – 8/10
Feed The Fire takes Lana Del Rey to a spacey summit meeting with the Lee Hazelwood of Summer Wine after a conference call with Sweden’s own Concretes.”
MOJO
“The excited melodies of ‘Hunter’ and the twangy oddness of ‘Machine’ offer excellent entry points to this promising Scandi-pop-noir album.”
Sunday Times
“A haunting experience… Billie Lindhal’s voice is sometimes sweet and mysterious, at others bold, evocative of Kate Bush… Glacial and expansive, delicate moments often fall into an urgent rush of burning intensity, pulsing and shifting through tempo and style.”
London In Stereo
“There’s something darkly seductive about Billie Lindhal’s debut release, drawing you in to a Wicker Man-like web that’s simultaneously unnerving and exhilarating.”
Loud & Quiet
“Billie Lindahl is a Swedish singer-soundscaper whose gothic emotions construct a post-apocalyptic forest where we catch echoes of Nico, The Knife, Chinese violins and Mariachi horns. Its sometimes unsettling but always, importantly, accessible.”
Prog
“This is brooding and complex music for the Nordic noir generation. On Feed The Fire, Lindahl’s brand of atmospheric folk pop is carefully constructed, full of menace and a thrillingly visceral listen… A macabre masterpiece”
Songwriting Magazine

“A hypnotic affair…galloping drums and a circular bass groove sit deep in the mix, locking into the senses allowing the mind to focus on Lindahl’s sweet, enchanting melody.”
The Line of Best Fit

“Powerfully melodic, but with a hypnotic arrangement which will keep you under its spell.”
