Shares cover of Northern Soul classic,

Blowing Up My Mind

‘Dennis’ EP – due Feb 26th 2016

With his UK tour starting this week, Sweet Baboo (aka Stephen Black) has shared the new video for ‘Blowing Up My Mind‘, taken from the forthcoming Dennis EP. Black says of the song, “Blowing Up My Mind is a northern soul classic. It was originally recorded by The Exciters. We recorded it as a B-side to Got To Hang On To You (we namecheck The Exciters and the song in my song). It’s a pretty faithful rendition of the original.” Listen below…

Upcoming live dates, including a headline show at London’s Moth Club on 4th February:

29th Jan – Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff
nd Feb – The Musician, Leicester
3rd Feb – Tom Thumb Theatre, Margate
4th Feb – Moth Club, London
5th Feb – Night and Day Café, Manchester
6th Feb – Picture House Special, Sheffield
7th Feb – The Fulford Arms, York
12th Feb – Neuadd Ogwen, Bethesda
13th Feb – Moles Club, Bath
The 6-track Dennis EP will be released on Feb 26th 2016 through Moshi Moshi. It includes a Christmas song, 3 covers (Daniel Johnston, The Exciters, The Beach Boys) and 2 previously unreleased tracks from his TBB album sessions.

Black says of the EP: “Dennis was the name I gave to my son before he was born. My wife wasn’t as keen as me so we went with something else. Each verse on ‘We Used To Call Him Dennis’ goes through a different name my wife and I considered. ‘Buzzard’ is my interpretation of an old-fashioned dance courtship song, if there is such a thing. The lyrics are different mating rituals which I imagine make up the dance steps.”

Pre-order the EP from Moshi Moshi and iTunes and receive ‘Don’t Be Alone (This Christmas)’ as an instant-grab.
