John Parish and Band playing UK gigs in Bristol and Winchester this week

Acclaimed composer, producer, film-scorer and guitarist, John Parish will be playing three rare UK dates this week, with his live band Marta Collica, Giorgia Poli, Jean-Marc Butty and Jeremy Hogg). Then from next week they will be heading off to Aalborg’s Northern Winter Beat Festival in the Northern tip of Denmark. These shows will feature new songs as well as music from his previous albums and film scores, along with special guest appearances.

Parish is best known for his work with the acclaimed British artist PJ Harvey, which dates back to when she was backing singer and guitarist in his cult band Automatic Dlamini.

As a producer, he’s been responsible for a string of ground breaking albums, most recently PJ Harvey’s Mercury Prize winning ‘LET ENGLAND SHAKE’, JENNY HVAL’s ‘INNOCENCE IS KINKY’, ROKIA TRAORE’s ‘BEAUTIFUL AFRICA’, and KIRA’s Steppeluven Award winning ‘WHEN WE WERE GENTLE’. Other productions include SPARKLEHORSE, TRACY CHAPMAN, 16 HORSEPOWER, THIS IS THE KIT, ARNO, DAVE HEUMANN and more.

As an artist he has co-authored two albums with PJ Harvey – ‘DANCE HALL AT LOUSE POINT’ (1996) and ‘A WOMAN A MAN WALKED BY’ (2009) – one album with EELS – ‘SOULJACKER’ (2001), and released three albums under his own name on the Thrill Jockey label – ‘HOW ANIMALS MOVE’ (2002), ‘ONCE UPON A LITTLE TIME’ (2005) and ‘SCREENPLAY’ (2013), a compilation of his film music drawn from several scores including ‘Sister’ and ‘Little Black Spiders’.
