Rad Releases ’15 – Vasa

December 20, 2015

Skye Portman Rad Releases

It’s that time once again, as the countdown to the end of 2015 quickly approaches we take a personal look back on familiar names, features and musicians’ best releases of the past 12 months. Circuit Sweet will be hosting takeovers from the featured artists of the site with their personal top 5 releases of the year.

Continuing our annual end of year tradition we let our favourites take over the site to tell us the records that have made their end of year lists, their favourite events/gigs and what we can look forward to from them next year.

Our next take over comes from a band who have excelled themselves over the past 12 months, instrumental act VASA. The Scottish based post-rco quartet have really made a name for themselves this year with the release of their extraordinary debut ‘Colours’ and various shows across the UK and festival appearances including one of our favourites at ArcTanGent, we have the pleasure in handing over to the guys to find out their most cherished albums of 2015.

Top 5 Releases – We’re having a lot of trouble keeping it down to 5 so here are some of our favourites.
– HEALTH – Death Magic
– Rolo Tomassi – Grievances

– Tellison – Hope Fading Nightly

– Vennart – The Demon Joke

– Deafheaven – New Bermuda

– Liturgy – The Ark Work

Alarmist – Popular Demain

– Four Year Strong – Self-titled

– Town Portal – The Occident

– Intronaut – The Direction of Last Things

– Cult Leader – Lightless Walk

Best show we have played this year
Without a doubt it was our set at ArcTanGent. We played to a packed tent that was spilling out and back to the bar behind the PX3. It was amazing to see so many people there to watch us and we had a fantastic reaction from everyone. It was pretty much the best moment so far for the 4 of us.
Best gig we have attended this year
Body Hound at ArcTanGent was pretty immense. Blaine and Niall caught HEALTH a while ago and they said it was pulverising.
Highlights of our year
Releasing our album ‘Colours’ was easily the highlight. We put so much time and effort and hard work into that so it was great to see it finally released and the overall reaction blew us away. So many nice things were said. Also, to beat a dead horse, playing at ArcTanGent was pretty amazing as well. That will stay in our memories for a long while. Our first ever Europe tour with Mountains Under Oceans was pretty special as well. We have never been treated so well and played in front of such amazing crowds.
Artist/Band to watch in 2016
Our good pals and previous tour pals Black Peaks. They just signed to Sony/Easy Life Records and are honestly the most promising band going at the moment. They are set for big, big things.
Plans for the New Year
We’ll be back on tour a few times. Everything else we have planned is kind of under wraps for the time being. Just keep up to date with our Facebook page and you will find out everything in due course.
Thank you Vasa, we’ve loved promoting the release this year and look forward to seeing you again live next year!
