Announce debut EP
London show tonight
Having just finished touring with Richard Hawley and following a successful trio of singles, Dancing Years today announce the release of debut EP ‘Learn To Kiss’, due 12th February via Kolbalt / Hide & Seek Records.
The beautifully crafted EP sees Dancing Years develop on the emotive, cinematic and evocative songwriting, which captured imaginations in their previous self-released material. With the help of renowned producer Colin Elliot (Richard Hawley, Slow Club), they push their songwriting and instrumentation to new highs on this debut EP, creating something timeless and sincere. Recorded at Sheffield’s Yellow Arch Studios, Elliot also features on the EP playing bass and double bass.

Its four tracks capture the awe inspiring vocals of David Henshaw and effortlessly realized instrumentation: ‘Learn To Kiss’ sees Dancing Years continue to explore interesting textures through varied instrumentation: sweeping string harmonies throughout ‘Neon Lights’, soft layers of vibraphone in ‘April’ and reversed synthesiser in ‘Valentine’.
The band will play a free show at The Shacklewell Arms on tonight.
Hailing from Leeds, Dancing Years are inspired by truth and honesty with feelings bared for the listener, lyrics like intimate conversation.
The EP’s first offering and title track, ‘Learn to Kiss’ delicately explores the genesis of a relationship, a boy striving to understand a girl, angelic in comparison to his own fumbling efforts. In stark contrast to this ‘Valentine’ deals with a relationship starved of intimacy, a woman’s outlook on her partner’s lack of romance.
With support tours with George Ezra, Boy & Bear, Dry The River and radio support from Huw Stephens, Mary-Anne Hobbs and Steve Lamacq under their belts, Dancing Years are already making an exciting impression.
