Following its exclusive stream on Stereogum, Weyes Blood [aka Natalie Mering] released her new Cardamom Times EP on Friday 9 October via Mexican Summer.
Now you can watch the video for EP track In The Beginning as premiered on TMRW Magazine and available via YouTube.
The earthy, organic feel of the Cardamom Times EP is mirrored in the In the Beginning video as Director Laura-Lynn Petrick explains:
“This video was shot on Super 8 film, in the Northern woods of Canada, on the abounding coast of the great lake, Lake Superior. The location is oriented to the early beginnings of human life, with native inhabitants living off the land as early as 500 B.C. This song was conceptualized as a new genesis, between Natalie and the earthly environment around her. She climbs the mountain, ‘Anemki-waucheu’ on precious Ojibway native land, in solitude, a quilted patchwork of captured light. The memories of understanding. The video takes us on a physical and mental journey, as Natalie explores the natural world, and discovers the spiritual ethos of the land.”
Weyes Blood plays the following UK gigs in November:
25 November: Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club – London
26 November: Green Door Store – Brighton
