Porkbelly Promotions are set to bring Classic Rock and Blues back to Hereford. Their second, not to be missed, gig will be an exciting performance by local artists Troy Redfern and Puma Creek, a first opportunity to see these two bands playing together.
Back in the 1970’s John Hales, the founder of Porkbelly Promotions, was a student of the College of Education in Hereford. After his studies, John returned to his hometown of London. Two years ago John decided he wanted a quieter life and remembering his time here in Hereford, John chose to come back to the county.
Having always been a huge live music fan, in particular Classic Rock and Blues, John became the founder of Hereford Live, an organisation dedicated to promoting live music events, which is still today going from strength to strength. However, John’s passion was in Classic Rock and Blues, so he has branched out on his own and set up Porkbelly Promotions. In August, John held his first gig at the Left Bank, with the enigmatic Stomp Box Blues headlining. John is very excited to announce that Porkbelly Promotions’ next event will be held at The Victory in Hereford with soulful Puma Creek and the amazing Troy Redfern Band.
For those that follow live music in the area Troy Redfern won’t be a new name.
“The protean slide guitarist leads his powerful trio with style, gusto and virtuoso playing that fuses spontaneity with real craft. Redfern combines the rawness of Hound Dog Taylor, the freeform approach of Sonny Sharrock, the firebrand playing of Johnny Winter and the technique of Dave Hole, with the ghost of Elmore James.” (Pete Feenstra)
Puma Creek will be supporting, an original 4 piece band, playing a blend of emotionally charged music fuelled by blues, groove and a whole lot of soul!
Porkbelly Promtotions have recently joined with Clear Cut Promotions, to further expand and enable more exciting events to take place. Clear Cut Promotions, are thrilled to be working with Porkbelly Promotions and the duo have some exciting things planned for 2016, so watch this space!
If would like to come along to the event, it kicks off at 8pm at The Victory Pub on Saturday 17th October, 88 St. Owens Street, Hereford. Tickets cost £5 (or £4 for concessions). The event is 18 plus.
