UNVEIL VIDEO FOR “BAD IDEAS”

New album “Such Things” out this week via Anti-

Saintseneca just released a brand new video for their track “Bad Ideas.” The song is from the band’s new album Such Things which is out now on ANTI-.

“Bad Ideas” offers a stripped down primal merging of early punk sensibilities, pure hook driven pop and unabashedly earnest folk. The striking new video begins with a solitary singer Zac Little self consciously performing the song in karaoke. From there it departs into far more surreal territory which includes Little and some large wooly creatures who both dance behind him on stage and just hang out.

As Little explains, “There is a dissonance between the world we inhabit and the world that inhabits us.  Does the universe created in our heads correspond to the one outside? If even seeing the color red could vary from person to person, what does that tell us about feelings of longing?

And yet, somehow we manage…

The “Bad Ideas” video is inspired by this duality. The dream world collides with cold hard reality, and they both get a little weird. I wanted to poke fun at the ego and audacity of trying to hack it as an artist. I figured, what better way than surreal back-up dance creatures – who also might be down to set off some bottle rockets? “

Early reviews of Such Things have been glowing; NPR Music raved, “From start to finish, Such Things feels like the product of intense care — every word and sound feels thoughtfully wrought. So how come it also sounds amazing when blared out of car windows?”  Meanwhile Paste Magazine wrote, “Violin, banjo, guitar and the jangly interplay between Little’s campside howl and Jones’ precious falsetto are simply intoxicating”  and Stereogum added: “ For an album that’s dealing with such heady concepts, Such Things manages to sound remarkably grounded. There’s an emotive core at the heart of the album that weighs it all the philosophy down with a sense of humanity. As the band traverses between hushed, folkier whispers and their more muscular barn-burning stomp, they create some cutting, satisfying whiplash. The glistening trio of early singles — “Sleeper Hold,” “River,” and “Bad Ideas” — are only some of the many highlights on the record, which is filled with those same kind of deep riffs that you could build a home in, or at least a sturdy tent. It’s a hell of an album.”
