The Fader premieres Dave Heumann’s stunning “Here in the Deep” video
Directed by Jay Buim whose credits include videos for Future Islands and documentaries on Jeff Koons, Kara Walker and Nick Cave. Debut solo album “Here in the Deep” produced by John Parish (PJ Harvey, Perfume Genius) / feat. contributions from Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner.
First ever European tour this November, with members of Trembling Bells and Arbouretum as his live band
Arbouretum frontman Dave Heumann’s “Here in the Deep” is the stunning title track from his forthcoming solo album, due out Friday 16th October. It’s a shimmering melancholic celebration of the joys of Summer and all with the looming backdrop of the end of the season. Directed by Jay Buim, the video accompanying the track was filmed on the last day of the swimming season at Druid Hill Park in Baltimore. Featuring locals residents, it captures the mood of Heuman’s hypnotic ballad beautifully, the inspiration written in the opening lyrics of the song:
“The sun sank below
And I watched it go
As midnight is blind
Primroses shine
Go to sleep
Cloud cover creeps
Here in the deep
Sentience seeps”
It is at once a loving tribute to two things Dave loves, the carefreeness of swimming and his beloved home town. The choice of the historic Druid Hill pool was an easy one and the video stunningly captures the last joy of Summer as it also bids it farewell as we enter the depths of Autumn.
Dave Heumann’s Here in the Deep was mixed by the highly sought after musician and producer John Parish (PJ Harvey, Tracy Chapman, Eels, Perfume Genius) and features contributions from Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner and Walker Teret (Lower Dens) among others.
In celebration of the impending release of Here in the Deep, Heumann will be embanking on his first ever European tour as a solo artist. The tour starts from 13th November and includes dates with Chelsea Wolfe,Om, Protomartyr and festival appearances.
As part of his live band, Heumann will be bringing along Alex Neilson and Alasdair Mitchell from Glasgow folk-rockers Trembling Bells and Arbouretum’sMatt Pierce for this tour.
