‘”Family Man” is drenched in brazen hedonistic tendencies, and as they thrash around with old synths and punk-flecked vocals, it’s hard not to be suckered into their glee’ – The Line Of Best Fit

‘… summer vibes and easy-going melodies? What’s not to like!’ – Indie Shuffle

Having successfully released ‘(Do the) Shämäläin’, the first single from their forthcoming debut album, Finnish bandHave You Ever Seen The Jane Fonda Aerobic VHS? return with their second single ‘Family Man’.

Their unconventional name, which shortens to HYESTJFAVHS?, instantly sets the tone for their playful, nostalgic sound. Inspired by a wide range of genres from rock’n’roll to 80’s dream pop and 60’s soul/girl groups, the trio’s twist of doo-wop and flower-punk attitude creates the perfect end-of-summer soundtrack: light-hearted but full of energy.

With Pitu’s pounding percussion, Ekku’s punk riffs and Susse’s catchy vocals, ‘Family Man’ is pure old-school grunge fun. As the three-piece describes, “’Family Man’ presents the band at its best with its rich but simple melodies, trashy sound and rock action attitude.’’

Aside from their striking name, the Kouvola-based three-piece differ from any other garage rock group in their unconventional lack of a guitarist. Instead, the band uses retro Casio and Eco-organs to create lively melodies and distorted sound walls, making them one of the most entertaining and refreshing outfits on the current scene.

Their bubble gum punk vibe has already been acclaimed by the likes of Indie Shuffle, Nothing But Hope and Passionand Kaltblut Magazine, who featured their 70’s inspired video for ‘(Do the) Shämäläin’ as a top video of the week earlier this year. ‘Family Man’ will also be accompanied by an evocative video featuring classic film footage in keeping with their retro aesthetic.

Prolific live performers, this summer has seen HYESTJFAVHS? grace the stage at some of Finland’s biggest festivals, which will conclude with an appearance at Helsinki’s Flow Festival on Friday 14th August.

Set to drop on 21st August, ‘Family Man’ is taken from the band’s upcoming debut album ‘Teenage Sweetheart’, due to be released digitally in September on VILD Recordings and physically in Finland on the legendary Airiston Punk-levyt.
