The Resonant Rogues have ears for the past and eyes toward the future. Partners Sparrow and Keith J. Smith write songs that transcend genres, blending Gypsy jazz and Balkan music with American folk traditions like old-time and blues.  Their infectious melodies and eloquent lyrics bring a nouveau pop sensibility to their old fashioned style.

After years of travelling, collecting stories, tunes, and heartaches, the Resonant Rogues have come home again to capture their original songs for posterity. Recorded at the renowned Echo Mountain Studios in the band’s home base of Asheville, North Carolina, Here & Gone Again marks a big step for the young band. Its release coincides with the two year anniversary of the group, which was founded by Keith J. Smith and Sparrow, the songwriters, sweethearts, and creative force behind the Resonant Rogues. Here & Gone Again, like the band that made it, wanders from the streets of New Orleans, to the Balkan region of eastern Europe, meanders through the Hot Clubs of France, then comes back home to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. In addition to the group’s core sound of vocal harmonies, accordion, guitar, fiddle, upright bass, and banjo, the album features special appearances by Je Widenhouse (Squirrel Nut Zippers) on trumpet and Matt Smith (Honeycutters) on pedal steel guitar. The Resonant Rogues have created an album that spans genres, decades and continents, with lyrics that hit home and music that will take you far.

“Their intense cohesion is so intertwined that it feels like they’re playing with one pair of hands. Harmonies seem to pour from one set of lungs. Onstage, the fluency they wield for their craft (or, I should say “crafts”) is impressive… No doubt a thing they’ve honed playing on the street. But while some busking just doesn’t translate into a listening room, these guys bring the spirits of Django Reinhardt and Squirrel Nut Zippers along to mingle throughout their set.” No Depression

“Want to hear the melting pot that’s the ongoing cultural experiment known as the United States of America? Then you should listen to the Resonant Rogues.” Style Weekly
