Circuit Sweet Interview, Feature

July 8, 2015

Ladies and Gentleman, one more sleep! One more sleep until 2000 trees kicks off for their 9th year!

For the last few weeks, in the lead up to one of the most renowned UK independent festival’s opening those gates again, we’ve been chatting to a handful of artists performing at this years2000trees festival based in Cheltenham. We’ve asked artists to shed light on their festival experiences, what they plan to give to the audience at this years event and who they’re looking forward to catching live.

2000 trees festival will  shortly commence for its 9th year. To coincide with the fast approaching July dates, from now up until the day before the fun begins, we are continuing to host a special 2000 trees Artist Feature. Taking a closer look at some of the talent playing and introducing our readers to a handful of acts in a more personal manor; as we talk to the musicians to find out about their musical endeavours, their live sets and what we can look forward to from them on the day, as well as their top artist to see at trees.

In our final artist take over we chat to those Brighton based lovelies Rory Indiana. Blending the soulful voice of founding member Rory Indiana-Kaye together with heavy riffs and menacing drums, Rory Indiana have created the newest stem to the alt-rock genre and we are excited to catch them live!

Please introduce yourselves and your role within the band- How long have you been playing and performing live?

I’m Dan (Bass player) collectively we’ve all been playing and performing since we’ve been very young!

How did you form and where did the name come from?

Me (Dan) and Rory have grown up together! We met Ben and Harry at uni and it’s all gone from there.

What can we look forward to from your live performance during this years highly anticipated festival?

Something very different! We are playing on the Forrest Session stage, so we have worked some old and new tracks in to acoustic renditions – something we’ve not done a great deal of! (Expect more in the not so distant future though)

What do you think you each bring to your live performances, sell your showmanship, sell us your sets.

Collectively we strive to really make you guys feel the emotion we have lyrically and musically twisted in to our music. We try to completely bound every single person to watching every little moment of our live performances. I’d like to think you can really see how we take every morsel of emotion and throw it all back to the crowd watching us. We want you to feel the music. We go ballistic on stage.

What is it that you personally get from your performance?

The rush and adrenaline. I cannot express how incredible is to be give opportunities to show music lovers the music you have written in the most raw element possible. You can’t describe how it feels to someone else until you’ve done it!

How would you describe the reception to your presence?

Come and see us! Answer the question your self!

How would you personally describe your own sound in one word?

Is there a particular track that you just love to play?

I reckon for us all it’s the new track, ‘Leave Me’, it’s got a bouncy riff and a huge chorus, breakdown is always fun to play as well.

Is there an artist you can’t wait to see at the festival, if so why?

We’re gunna have to say two, Arcane roots – Absolutely astonishing band, you just never know what’s round the corner with these guys! The Xcerts and The Subways are definitely not to be missed either.

Is this your first 2000 Trees experience?

This is our second 2000 Trees Experience! We can’t bloody wait to get stuck in this year if last year is anything to go by!

What else are you looking forward to from this years event?

Watermelon – Everyone who’s been should know what we mean.

Give us some festival advice- what one thing would you urge everyone to bring with them for this weekend?

It’s a toss up between a fold out chair and some sunblock. But given the weather forecast for this weekend, I’d probably recommend some sunblock, being burnt for the weekend does not sound fun!

Enlighten us to what can we look forward to from you in the future- many other plans set for the rest of this year, be it touring, recording, releasing etc?

Watch out for our single that’s soon to be dropped, keep a eye out for some exciting dates and definitely keep watch for our new EP. We’ve just been in the studio with Chris Coulter (Arcane Roots, EMP!RE) And well lets just say we are mighty proud of the end result.

And Finally any last words from you?

Thank you in advance for checking us out at Trees if you do, we can’t wait. Also, fill yourself on watermelon it’s a god send on a hot day!

Thanks for the time and we can’t wait to see you live! Enjoy the festival.

Thats it for 2000 trees festival line up interviews for us, we’ve given you a variety of acts to check out who are performing from tomorrow. And if you’ve got your tickets we will see you tomorrow. The next follow up will be a special review!
