Listen to new single ‘Meteor’ released August 7th via SO Recordings

Special guests announced for Power Lunches residency, including Demob Happy, Hyena and Gang

Canterbury’s Broken Hands have unveiled their astronomic new single ‘Meteor’, released on August 7th via SO Recordings. Following their sold-out show at Electrowerkz in March, the band have also announced the complete line-up to their three curated residency nights at east London’s Power Lunches venue.

A limited amount of “guaranteed entry” tickets were snapped up in a matter of hours, the remaining free tickets will be available on the door each night at Dalston arts space Power Lunches on June 18th, July 2nd and July 14th. For each of the shows, Broken Hands have selected some of the finest bands currently making a storm in the UK to play the event.

On the first “jetPOWERed LUNCHES” event, Broken Hands will be joined by psych-rock outfit Gang and hotly-tipped duo Fuoco. July 2nd will see recent Turbowolf tourmates Hyena play alongside rising rock two-piece Dolls. And on the final date Broken Hands welcome the fantastically riotous Demob Happy and Birmingham’s Cold Ocean Lies. Broken Hands will, as always, be covering the entire venue in foil as part of their self-dubbed Silver Landing Programme shows, for an immersive, unique live experience.
The recently studio-bound band have already developed a loyal fan base following their incendiary live performances, which has seen them play the likes of Reading and Leeds Festival, SXSW and share stage with heroes including Black Sabbath and these three new shows will be the last before returning to the studio to conclude the recording of their debut album. Previous single ‘Death Grip’ saw the band gain backing from Annie Mac and Phil Taggart BBC Radio 1 and strong support from Steve Lamacq and John Kennedy on 6music and XFM respectively.

Produced by Tom Dalgety (Royal Blood, Band of Skulls, Turbowolf), ‘Meteor’ continues Broken Hands’ fixation with aviation and the limitless possibilities of space. Of the huge new track, frontman Dale Norton says: “The song is all about chasing the evening. The night itself is the meteor. You’re on its tail in a Russian MIG-29 jet, trying to catch up but you never will… your co-pilot is telling you to turn back but you persist! It’s the most straight to the point track on the album I think!”
