RAINER unveil new video ‘Nocturn’ & announce London show! Debut album ‘Water’ out May 18th via Kissability/ Algebra.

April 29, 2015

Today, Rainer share the video for lead-single ‘Nocturn’ from their forthcoming album. The duo’s debut full-length ‘Water’ is due May 18th via Kissability/ Algebra & the band are set to play a headline London show at the Stillery in Camden on May 21st.

With astonishingly honest lyrics, ‘Nocturn‘ is a beautifully shot, moving story of the struggle of a dancer whose main love is taken away from them beyond their control.

Director Alexander Brown of the London film collective The Sweet Shop went on to give a little background to the video when he said “I had a friend who was a dancer, and as many dancers do, she developed an injury that never went away. This was a very difficult period of transition for her, because dance was her life.”

“Coming to terms with something life changing is never easy, and sometimes we are made to think determination and perseverance will make us achieve even the wildest of ambitions. However that moment of realization, when you are confronted with the idea that your dreams will never ever come true, is a difficult thing to overcome and goes against everything we are told.”

Rainer is made up of Rebekah Raa and Nic Nell (aka London-based producer Casually Here). The duo formed in 2012 after meeting through mutual friends and shared late nights. Their friendship & musical kinship developed over a love of dark sounds and striking production.

Following the release of their debut EP Hope/Satin/Glass/Dreams at the end of 2013, which garnered an array of attention, the band took a year out to work on their debut record. They locked themselves away in a studio in Elephant & Castle and created ten brand new tracks that broaden their twisted electronic framework & progress their experimental pop sensibilities.

Charged with lush production and instrumentation, Rainer’s forthcoming debut ‘Water’ is an album full of incredibly personal sentiment. Rebekah explains: “I write about love mainly, and the bizarre mixture of emotions that inevitably comes with falling in, being in or falling out of love.  Writing is like a therapy through which I realise why I feel the way I do. Some of the songs have an uplifting message in them which is usually the point of realisation that I got to through writing.”

With artwork by Claire Falkenberg from the “Lover Series“, Rainer present a seductive blend of R&B notes, off-kilter synth sounds and engagingly open lyrics throughout ‘Water’, marking an incredibly exciting debut for this emerging London duo.
