KEN Mode have amassed a strong following over their last 15 years of fearsome and unaligned output, gaining fans from the burnt edges and dankest corners of genres like post-rock, hardcore, metal, noise and sludge. Those who like their music concentrated, cut-throat and complex are drawn to the band’s direct and downright savage way of getting things done, releasing wild instrumentation to tear in to the flesh of stale 4/4 convention. Evident technicality and exaggerated noise rock amplification spills over the edge of the canvas and makes for a feral listen. Inevitable comparisons with Hydra Head bands, The Jesus Lizard and others alike are welcome compliments rather than limiting anchors, as KEN Mode broaden their sound ever more on this new musical output, incorporating more of their pre-teen roots stemming from the likes of Nirvana, Slint, Drive Like Jehu, and the Birthday Party.
