THE SOFT MOON

– REVEALS NEW VIDEO ‘FAR

– ANNOUNCES MORE UK TOUR DATES
– ALBUM ‘DEEPER’ OUT MARCH 30TH ON CAPTURED TRACKS

So far, from The Soft Moon’s forthcoming album ‘Deeper’, we’ve heard the lead single ‘Black,’ a merciless track of heaving bass, as well as Trentemøller’s rework of the track. Today, The Soft Moon(a.k.a Luis Vasquez) shares the stream and video for his second single ‘Far‘. The LP is set for release on March 30th via Captured Tracks & The Soft Moon will embark on a run of UK dates in April.

Directed by Y2K (Jason Lester and Severiano Martinez), the video sees Vasquez, plagued by a monstrous clone of himself, on a nightmarish ride through the streets of LA. Describing the video Y2K says:

“’Far’ is the realm where unconscious desires reign, and the darkest tendencies take root and flourish. There, the “hIDeous” clone assaults the ego, the shadow self stalks the night, and a third Shroud embodies the two hemispheres locked in perpetual battle. The mirror cannot bear the strain of these fractured identities, and violence ricochets in all directions. It bends and warps, but never breaks. Like us, it holds an erratic balance together, even as voltaic forces rumble under the surface.”

The voice of The Soft Moon has never been more clear and honest than it is on this record. With eerie, immersive tracks like the dogged “Far” and slow, beautifully melancholic “Wasting” (the first track written for Deeper), the album is a penetrating portrait of Vasquez as he wrestles thoughts of suicide, vulnerability and what it means to heal. By facing the most hopeless parts of himself without illusion and putting his past demons to bed, the creation of Deeper was an intense personal exploration of existence for Vasquez — old wounds were forcibly opened, deep anger and paranoia were manipulated into song — and he did not emerge unchanged. Deeper may have delivered Vasquez back to the waking world, but it willingly drags us further into The Soft Moon’s dark, euphonic universe once more.
We are also happy to announce today that, at the start of April, The Soft Moon will embark on a month-long North American tour. Immediately following that, he will head to Europe for the month of May.
