‘Missing You Tonight’
The brand new single
Released March 16th via Caroline International
Released March 23rd via Caroline International
Striking Matches are returning to UK shores this May following on from their debut headline shows at the Borderline last year, both of which selling out through word of mouth after their astounding performance at The O2 Arena’s C2C festival last March.
With the Nashville duo’s fresh and Fleetwood Mac inspired approach to country music, which has also been described by US critics as “a countrified Civil Wars / Black Keys mix”, these dates will be a showcase for their debut album’s material to shine in their own encompassing element.
That album ‘Nothing But The Silence’ produced by Grammy-winning T-Bone Burnett, who has worked with the likes of Robert Plant, Allison Krauss, Elton John, Roy Orbison and Counting Crows is set for release on March 23rd through Caroline International.
The band recently performed their country stomper ‘Trouble Is As Trouble Does’ exclusively for Rolling Stone Magazine, demonstrating the duo’s flare and energy. As Rolling Stone describe: “Guitar-slinging duo performs song in one take, with one mic… harmonizing and fearlessly (and flawlessly) shredding on guitar in front of one bare microphone.”
Striking Matches latest single ‘Missing You Tonight’, is a beautiful, country anthem that takes the listener deep into the heart of Nashville, with the staple diet sounds of the Fender Stratocaster guitar, syncopated bass lines, laid back drums and vocal harmonies to die for. The single, will be released March 16th – watch the beautiful lyric video, starring the duo, here.
Both Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis take care of vocal duties that spout the most honest, heartfelt of lyrics; “I was just missing you tonight”. The track occupies that sweet spot at the intersection of country, rock and blues, where all of the elements blend to form an authentically raw and rootsy sound that has a timeless and international appeal.
Their songs, including ‘When The Right One Comes Along’ and ‘Hanging On A Lie’ have been featured on More 4’s hit drama series Nashville and recorded by the show’s stars Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen, which has opened the door to a host of new fans both in the US and internationally.
Striking Matches are the first artist to sign to the newly revived label, I.R.S. Nashville, and have toured with the likes of Vince Gill, Ashley Monroe and Hunter Hayes.
