Announce new EP ‘Make Love Not War’
Founder Deborah Coughlin in residency at ICA next week
Live show Monday 2nd March @ London’s ICA
Gaggle – the 20 piece all female performance art/pop band/alternative choir/girl gang – are pleased to share the video for new track ‘Make Love Not War’. Featuring Bill Hicks, Dirty Dancing and much more, it is probably NSFW.
Taken from their forthcoming EP of the same name – due March 16th – these are the first tracks Gaggle have released since their debut album ‘From the Mouth of the Cave’ (Transgressive 2012).
Gaggle have appeared on Jools Holland, Channel 4’s Random Acts, performed at The Royal Albert Hall, Bestival, Latitude and gained critical acclaim across their diverse body of work including pop records, opera, apps, immersive theatre and a sketch show.
Founder of Gaggle, artist/director/producer Deborah Coughlin is in residence at Fig2 at the ICA Studio in the week running up to International Women’s Day: March 2nd – March 8th.
As part of Coughlin’s residency Yap! Yap! Yap!, Gaggle will perform on March 2nd at the ICA. The result will be a collage of pop and ideas, clever words and weird noise. “It’s like the Vagina Monologues, only not just about fannies” Deborah Coughlin
Yap! Yap! Yap! is a celebration of women’s voices. Uncovering the great things that women have said throughout history and also saying new things, now, very loudly, with an array of incredibly special guests:
Charlotte Church (reading)
Dana Jade – founder of Clit Rock
Paula Barjack – performance and video artist
Ama Josephine Budge – sci-fi writer
Ruth Barnes – presenter
Yap! Yap! Yap! reclaims a phrase that has been used disparagingly towards women who bang on about crap. It explore those women’s speeches we should all know, tells you have to write a great speech and most importantly, shows us how to be heard. For more information, visit here.
Additionally, Gaggle have been invited back to the Southbank’s WOW Festival for the third time having previously led a walk of a thousand women along the Thames in 2012 and in 2014, performing their show Lysistrata at The Queen Elizabeth Hall. This year they are being joined by their Gaggle brass band and performing in spaces in and around the Southbank Centre onSaturday 7th March. They will appear on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour live from the festival on the 7th and also on Radio 3’s The Choir show for International Women’s Day on March 8th. For more information on WOW, visit here.
