Rad Releases ’14- We’re No Heroes

December 29, 2014

As the countdown to the end of 2014 quickly approaches we take a personal look back on familiar names, features and musicians’ best releases of the past 12 months. Circuit Sweet will be featuring the featured artists of the site with their personal top 5 releases of the year.

In our end of year special we let our favorites take over the site to tell us the records that have made their end of year lists, their favorite events/gigs and what we can look forward to from them next year.

Next up we hand over to a trio who have already made our end of year list with their phenomenal EP release ‘Shiver’. We’re No Heroes are a Cardiff based trio simply bursting with potential. Consisting of Tom Collins- Guitar + Vocals, Michael Owen- Bass + Vocals and Luke Llewellyn – Drums + Vocals. We’re No Heroes deliver the perfect mix of !!! (chk chk chk) style dance rock with some Data Select Party style gang vocals, they are an act we urge you to support. We hand over to the boys to find out their year in music….

Top 5 releases of the year

This is always a difficult one. Combined we’ve been listening to a lot of:

Mac Demarco [Salad Days]

Jungle [s/t]

Childhood [Lacuna]

Flying Lotus [You’re Dead]

Goat [Commune]

And records from Thee Oh Sees, Schoolboy Q and The War on Drugs, each record is unique in its own way and we’d happily have an orgy with the collection of them.

The best show you have played this year

We’ve been very lucky to have played a lot of great shows this year around the UK, we supported Peace in the summer on their welsh dates which was surreal and made us hungry for more. Our Swn Festival appearance was special, It’s not often you get a complete stage invasion to the point of having to end abruptly into one big blanket of distorted noise and carnage.

The best gig you have attended

The Witches Drum’s final ever show at the Moon Club was ridiculous, it was probably the single most rock & roll show that we’ve experienced. We watched a Japanese band at Swn called Taffy, we knew nothing about them beforehand and for some reason expected them to be lad rock or something equally horrific, they were probably the least egotistical band ever and they were fantastic.

Artist/Band to watch for 2015

There are many bands in the sprawling metropolis of Cardiff, we’ll definitely be making a hella lot of noise next year, thats all you need to know.

Plans for the New Year

Record more music, release more music, play more gigs, forever and ever amen.

A huge thank you to the three, we are looking forward to seeing what next year holds for you!
