As the countdown to the end of 2014 quickly approaches we take a personal look back on familiar names, features and musicians’ best releases of the past 12 months. Circuit Sweet will be featuring the featured artists of the site with their personal top 5 releases of the year.
In our end of year special we let our favorites take over the site to tell us the records that have made their end of year lists, their favorite events/gigs and what we can look forward to from them next year.
The next Rad Releases installement comes from a trio who will be featured in our own final end of year list. Brontide have created a milestone for the band having released their phenomenal sophomore release ‘Artery’, one album we’ve yet to stop obsessing over. The instrumental trio comprise of Tim Hancock, William Bowerman and Nathan Fairweather and without a doubt they create a band that are amongst the best out there right now. We are very lucky to hand over to Tim to find out his most valued releases of 2014…
Top releases of the year
Bombay Bicycle Club ‘So Long See You Tomorrow’
The Xcerts ‘There is Only You‘
The best show you have played this year
The album launch at Oslo in Hackey was without a doubt our show of the year. It was the result of a lot of hard work on the new record ‘Artery’ and the atmosphere was great.
The best gig you have attended
Personally (Tim) I would have to say Bombay Bicycle Club at Rock City in Nottingham. As I said above, their new album has been a main stay in my car stereo and live it was just fantastic. The set choice and pace of the show was excellent, great production and sound, closest thing i’ve seen to a perfect show in years!
Highlights of your year
Releasing Artery! It took a solid year longer then we thought and a lot of work so to finally have the record out and hear such lovely responses from people has been wonderful. I think the fans really got what we wanted to do this time round and reviews were great so it’s been very rewarding.
Plans for the New Year
We should be touring again not long into the new year and festivals over the summer, which will be great. We have some ideas for new material forming.
From an act that have made our year with their release, we can only wish them the best for the next year of Brontide, huge thank you Tim. We look forward to catching another show soon.
