6Music favourite Sumner is back with her new single ‘Just Because’ taken from her conceptual debut Self Titled album.

Although influenced by the likes of The National, PJ Harvey and The Walkmen, Sumner’s song writing is contained within her thoughts.

Built around a collection of work written in three cities; New York, Valencia and London, The new album is a comment on human interaction.

As a graduate of psychology, Sumner has long been intrigued by human behaviour, using her music to analyse and evaluate situations and reactions.

“I love using irony to flesh out the contradictions within people and situations. I love to burst that bubble and examine the prickly, unpleasant parts of our relationships with ourselves and others.”

Just Because is the pinnacle example of Sumner’s writing. The product of a fight, the track is centred around the question: is it possible to bring a relationship back from the brink when the trust has been eroded?

Featuring the songstress’ signature haunting and mysterious musicality with her calm and tranquil vocals, the track is a hypnotic piece of work that is bound to have you hooked.
