“Nicholson possesses a slick, smooth and soulful voice with the range and power of a Christina Aguilera or Adele” – Listen With Monger
Following years of constant touring, female-fronted rockers Orchard Hill have revealed their Debut EP “Make It Out Alive” scheduled for release on December 8th 2014, in the midst of an exciting period for the band with an upcoming UK Headline Tour at O2 Academies across the country and hometown support show for The Summer Set on November 23rd at O2 Academy Oxford.
“Make It Out Alive” stands as a true testament to the sound Orchard Hill have become synonymous for. The engaging combination of catchy pop melodies with their alternative rock instrumentation has seen the band go from a local pub act, to a group who now play Academies around the UK, all without any form of label support. Fronted by the distinctive and powerful vocals of Tiff Nicholson, “Make It Out Alive” showcases the diversity of the band, including the emotional track “In Bliss”, a longtime fan favourite that’s finally been recorded and demonstrates the untouchable vocal prowess of Nicholson that has drawn widespread critical acclaim.
Recorded at the renowned Outhouse Studios in Berkshire, “Make It Out Alive” has been produced by influential producers Ben Humphreys(Maximo Park, Rudimental) and John Mitchell (You Me At Six, Lower Than Atlantis) during the Summer of 2014, in a period of progression for Orchard Hill between tour dates. Retreating to the quiet surroundings of theOuthouse gave the band the chance to regroup and focus on the style of music they wanted to create, and through this have produced the best tracks of their career.
Off the back of this EP, the band will be embarking on a unique UK Headline Tour in December where all tickets will be FREE. Playing four dates at Academies up and down the country, it will mark the band’s second UK Headline Tour in the space of 4 Months, and will place Orchard Hill back in the arena that they thrive in, Live in front of their fans.
Ahead of these anticipated dates, Orchard Hill will be returning to their hometown of Oxford to play their first hometown show in 2 1/2 years at theO2 Academy Oxford supporting US powerpop band The Summer Set.
Taking in the influences of bands such as Mallory Knox, Tonight Alive andParamore, Orchard Hill (previously known as Disclosure) have built a loyal and dedicated fanbase through relentless touring, (playing alongside bands such as Young Guns and Room 94) energetic live performances and committed interaction with fans through social media and at gigs. This support lead to the band winning a coveted spot at the Slam Dunk Festival South, voted for by the public, and playing alongside the likes of Marmozetsand All American Rejects. Hailed as one of the most exciting bands in the unsigned circuit, the band have played packed shows at Academy’s across the UK including a headline performance at Camden Barfly on their recent UK Headline Tour.
With an extremely active end to 2014, Orchard Hill have focused on their sound and after years of playing together are ready to take themselves to the next level. “Make It Out Alive” marks an exciting new phase for the band, one that is destined for bigger stages in 2015.
