New Northern label Mono have announced that their debut release is a limited edition, double a-side split single from Tessera Skies and Ajimal, encapsulating the originality, passion and ingenuity that will frame the label and set it apart from their peers.

Tessera Skies’ Droplet delivers the innovative design philosophy of Mono perfectly and is well placed to be on the label’s first release. Droplet floats and skims beautifully across its liquid soundscape, with a mixture of layered and translucent instruments that ruminate with a gentle authority.

Mono is a collective whose fundamental belief is in the art of constructing music without compromise, and allowing artists who are devoted to their craft to have a platform that shares their ambition.  The label is about creating collector’s items through the collaboration of the design of Mono and the creativity of the artist.

The release will be accompanied by remixes of Tessera Skies’ ‘Droplet’ by Dutch Uncles, as well as Ajimal’s ‘Nothing Touches Me’ remix from shArds

Ajimal is the shape shifting, pop project of singer, songwriter Fran O’Hanlon.  With the one constant of expressive and beautiful vocal melodies and lyrics, Ajimal specialises in grandiose haunted pop.

“This first release encompasses everything that we stand for and we are proud to be putting out Tessera Skies and Ajimal out on a format they deserved to be heard on.” – Mono

Mono are to hold a launch party of their label, studio and debut release at Newcastle’s Ernest on Saturday 29th November. Featuring DJ performances from special guests, it will be a celebratory night for the artistic community as much as the label.

Tessera Skies’ Droplet will be available alongside Ajimal’s Nothing Touches Meas part of Mono’s double a-side on 12” heavyweight vinyl, with Tessera Skies’ following release being set for early 2015.
