CLASSIC ZEUS OUT SEPTEMBER 1 ON SO RECORDINGS / ARTS & CRAFTS

Zeus have shared a “boom box video” for their shimmering track ‘Straight Through The Light’, which is taken from their forthcoming album Classic Zeus – set for release 1st September on SO Recordings in the UK. The band-made video is the first in a series to preview material from Classic Zeus, which will get a special cassette release in addition to CD, LP, and digital editions.

The band has also premiered a video for first single ‘Miss My Friends’, described by Noisey as “fun, funky, airy, and sunny.” The Independent called it “jangly and danceable”.

Recorded at Zeus’ own Ill Eagle Studios in Toronto, the eleven tracks on Classic Zeus find the band expanding its sonic palette beyond fuzzed-out 70’s rock into heartfelt pop as the band maintains its razor-sharp wit and airtight harmonies, always landing on something shining and unforgettable. Classic Zeus was written after a lengthy tour that concluded at a crossroads, with the band feeling frayed and uncertain about their future. Bowed but not broken, Zeus pushed its craft, embraced a hunger for exploration, and produced a testament to its own resilience.  Its most concise and collaborative album to date, Classic Zeus finds all four members — songwriting trio of guitarists Mike O’Brien and Neil Quin and bassist Carlin Nicholson, along with drummer Rob Drake — freely swapping instrumental and vocal duties.
