Earlier this year and kick starting the live scene into it’s festival season, we had the pleasure in attending and the honor of sponsoring a brand new MicroFestival. Jealous Lovers Club, the renowned and much loved promoters teamed up with Juxtaposed Club Nights to provide what was one of the best live events this year held at the prolific Gwdihw– in association with Circuit Sweet and Cardiff’s Quench Magazine.
The entire day was nothing but perfection! With 12 acts playing across two stages, all of which adding to the uplifting atmosphere. The day was full of talented artists showcasing their abilities to the venue, each act was another to discover and to fall in love with.
Drawing in the crowd to the second stage, the circuit sweet stage, the penultimate act to close the evening indoors, Olympians. Consisting of Daniel Harvey (vocals/guitar/synth); Benjamin Thompson (vocals/guitar/synth/trumpet); Christopher Neil (vocals/bass) and Michael Parkin (vocals/drums/glock), and having formed due to their love for technically proficient bands such as Youthmovies and Don Caballero, the four-piece from Norwich have honed their sound. Their live set comprised of a member down but still they created the perfect blend of math pop and delectable vocals from sincere lyrics to a room full of shouts. Building a psychedelic twist into their penchant for technical exuberance. Their set drew in every single person at the festival, all captivated by Olympians energy.
We’ve got plenty more artist features to follow but until then make sure you go and check out Olympians and you will be in for a treat. Be sure to show your support to the fantastic guys in Jealous Lovers Club.
