‘TIME TO SHINE’ DIGITAL REMIX EP OUT NOW ON POUR LE MONDE RECORDS
WATCH VIDEO FEAT. SOKO
Following the release of single “Time to Shine”, Parisian duo The Penelopes (Axel Basquiat and Vincent T.) are now presenting its video.
The brightest light casts the darkest shadow and The Penelopes disturbing video for their new single proves that. Starring French actress/musician Soko and directed by Mattias Johansson, the video was equally inspired by the dramatic stories of kidnap, imprisonment and torture to have hit the news in recent years (see the Fritzl and Ariel Castro cases) and the turmoil Axel and Vincent faced growing up in the rough neighbourhoods of the Paris outskirts. Film-like in their approach to the storytelling, The Penelopes reconstruct the broken pieces that provide the backdrop to their synth-driven sound and create a collage of crazy to accompany their uniquely driving sound.
Axel and Vincent said: “We wanted to show there is a light that comes out from the darkness. That no matter how bad things get that there’s an optimism that never dies”.

The track ‘Time to Shine’ was produced by The Penelopes and mixed by Dan Grech-Marguerat (Lana Del Rey, The Vaccines…) and it’s an upbeat, anthemic electro tune reminiscent of hedonistic, Flashdance-era Moroder, spiced up with some French’electronic and 80’s flavours.
The single come with a series of remixes from the effervescent Moullinex, Kitsuné’s very own Is Tropical, Electro/Disco darling Ronika and devoutly dark and sexy Night Drive.
