AUSTRALIA’S APES RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR SINGLE ‘PULL THE TRIGGER’
Melbourne, Australia, rock upstarts APES are releasing their ridiculously charismatic new single ‘Pull The Trigger’, and have just announced two single launch shows in their home country, shows with legendary band Australian Spiderbait plus a BIGSOUND music conference appearance. Busy, busy boys.
Concentrating this past twelve months on solidifying their fanbase and tailoring their sound, APES are the archetype of a young act with a bright future ahead of them.
Heavy triple j (Australian National Youth Broadcaster) and BBC radio support has seen their star rise rapidly, as have impressive showings on the Big Day Out and Groovin’ The Moo stages, plus dates with Kingswood, Stonefield, Dune Rats, Fidlar and Royal Blood.
Recently the lads killed it on tour nationally with Band Of Skulls. Next stop is Sydney and Melbourne single launches in August, both tiny club shows that will no doubt sell fast and result in much beer spilt and many hands in the air, sell out shows with the iconic band Spiderbait followed by a coveted spot on the live program at Big Sound 2014. Brash and tight, Apes’ live show will do them many favours as the band continue to work their way into the popular favour.
The new single “Pull The Trigger” evokes memories of the energy and pop sensibilities that The Strokes honed in their early days, whilst perfectly embodying the raucous garage rock aesthetic of the likes of Fidlar and Parquet Courts.
Produced by Michael Belsar of fellow Melbournian’s Hunting Grounds and mixed by Bill Skibbe (The Black Keys, Wild Belle, The Kills, The Dead Weather etc), the track is drenched in warm reverb, driven by punchy, melodious guitar work, and imbued with an irresistibly catchy chorus. This new single marks an encouraging step forward in the band’s songwriting, and stands as a really exciting introduction.
