Introducing Canadian’s ‘The Provincial Archive‘: If you’re an Elliot Smith, Simian Ghost, REM, Beck, The National or Grizzly Bear fan, there’s a good chance this will be your bag.

The band have set off on a tour of Europe with a string of UK dates (see below) starting with London on the 21st of May. The tour promotes their Hide Like a Secret EP which is out on the 10th of June and a full length album is expected to follow within the year.
The first song on the EP to be revealed is an Elliott Smith cover of ‘Son of Sam’, which is currently a free download.

A live in-studio video of the track can be viewed below-

“We’re huge Elliott Smith fans, and it was amazing to work through something that we love in detail,” explains frontman Craig Schram. The four track EP draws on the bands indie-folk and art-pop influences, and explores the use of detuned synthesizers and thick vocal harmonies.
