Following last year’s run of amazing live shows and strong support from UK fans countrywide, Transgressive Records are proud to announce the signing of Canadian punks FIST CITY, and will re-issue their classic album “It’s 1983, Grow Up” on May 17th with new bonus tracks.

Forming in Lethbridge, a smallish southern Alberta town, in 2010, Fist City jelled from the ashes of various punk bands to form a storming blend of garage-fuelled, surf-tinged, scuzzy rock n roll. The cataclysmic sound that made their riotous second album “It’s 1983, Grow Up” so special has been re-mastered this month, making it heavier, gnarlier and even more of a must-have since its original hometown release on Black Tent Press. What makes this even more exiting is that a new vinyl version will be released on Transgressive Records, alongside a limited edition cassette version on Jen Long’s Transgressive imprint, Kissability.

Fist City are a special band who stopped us all in our tracks” says Transgressive co-owner Tim Dellow, “Ten seconds into listening we’d all jumped up from our desks and were adamant that we had to sign this vital new band. Dischord(ant), Dirty, New Wave brilliance that should pour some cold piss and vinegar on all of you taking a nap at the back. Important band.”

Alongside stand out tracks such as “Endless Bummer”, “Boring Kids” and “Creeps”, this new release is scheduled to have two brand new songs on board. “Let’s Rip” is a sugary-sweet, violent pop song about a knife-wielding girl gang, and psych post-punk number “Losers Never Die”, written about being an immortal weirdo will also join the record. Both tracks were recently recorded with Felix Fung in his studio in Vancouver.

The band has also gone through a small line-up change since their UK tour last year. Brittany Fist re-joins FIST CITY on bass duties and will stand next to her one-time Sister, now Brother and frontman Kier Fist, following his successful gender reassignment to become a male.

In other good FC news, since the band last stormed the UK, nobody has called them “Satan worshipping reptilian hermaphrodites” on the radio following conspiracy theories that the band are active in the Satanic Underground, and guitarist Evan Van Reekum has managed not to fall out of any more fourth floor windows.

In fact, all four band members will be ready and armed with new tracks as they prepare to head to the UK this March for another UK tour destroying venues in London, Bristol and Manchester. Miss these dates at your goddam peril.
