NEW ALBUM ‘A MILLION WAYS TO MAKE GOLD’ RELEASED ON 24 MARCH 2014 ON SPLIT RECORDS

Following the release of quirky Christmas song ‘Quinzhee’ back in December, The Voluntary Butler Scheme (aka one man band Rob Jones) has now announced the release of second single “Honey in The Gravel Mixture” on March 17th. The single is taken from his third full-length album ‘A Million Ways to Make Gold’ on 24th March 2014 through Split Records.

Recorded in Rob’s home studio, it’s a sunny, upbeat record that finds The Voluntary Butler Scheme at his best, a perfect mix of classic songcraft and intrepid sonic experimentation. The album is dominated by brass instruments – trumpet, tenor sax and baritone sax, all if which Rob taught himself to play by watching tutorials on YouTube. And all those tutorial must have worked, cause shortly after learning how to play the trumpet and wanting to make a tune with a big brass riff, Rob wrote “Honey in The Gravel Mixture’…

He will be going back to his roots, digging out the loop pedal for some special one-man shows soon, but he’s also in the process of putting together a four-piece live band, with a full UK tour planned for 2014.
