Following many ‘Ones to Watch’ tips on their first two releases, Cambridge born indie band Forest have kicked off 2014 with four amazing new tracks available on an EP titled ‘Wisdom Tusk’ scheduled for release on limited edition 10” vinyl via Indelabel on March 24th.

Recorded in December with legendary producer Dave Allen (The Cure, Sennen, Stranglers, DEVO, Wire, Charlatans, etc), Forest have delivered tracks that have not only taken their fuzzy sound to cleaner heights, but have also revealed song writing skills that prove that once again these young Cantabrigian’s are growing fast. ‘Wisdom Tusk’ salutes the end of teenage years, representing a new chapter in songwriter Henry Barraclough’s world as he turned 20 years of age this month.

“This record (and Dave) has succeeded in making us sound more like a band,” explains the frontman. “You’re hearing the people behind the instruments, rather than the people buried underneath the production.”

Lead track ‘All I Have’ depicts growing pains within the realisation and frustration of teenage life. It builds with frenetic anxiety before screeching to a halt with its classic brick-wall hitting breakdown, exemplifying a moment we can all relate to, when there’s no other option than to just say “fuck it”.

This common thread that runs through Forest’s journey can also be found on the beautifully crafted, melodic riffs of ‘Box’, and the laid back, head nodding ‘September’,  two tracks that were written around the ‘Sweetcure’ EP era that both encapsulate the learning process in relationships and human behaviour. EP ender ‘Knots’ sums up real life realisations within its downbeat melody and reverb guitar-licks completing the band’s third EP in the space of 9 months.

Prolific and engaging, Forest’s new EP will be available from on March 24th. Pre-order the vinyl from and look out for live dates that will be announced soon.
