As the countdown to the end of 2013 quickly approaches we take a personal look back on familiar names, features and musicians’ best releases of the past 12 months. Circuit Sweet will be featuring the featured artists of the site with their personal top 5 releases of the year.

The past 12 months truly has been an incredible year for releases, hard to follow last year in the records produced but this year has uncovered exceptional talent- most of which discovered, promoted and featured right here on this site.

In our end of year special we let our favorites take over the site to tell us the records that have made their end of year lists, their favorite events/gigs and what we can look forward to from them next year.

Continuing our Rad Releases are a trio absolutely bursting with potential. The lovely Crisis Arm are a 3-piece outfit from Hemet, CA that fuse experimental shoegaze with shall we say a helping of jazz and various noise rock elements. Originally founded as a duo Patrick Capinding and Kevin McVey used their talents on guitar, vocals and drums from 2010. A year later Cameron Puleo’s musical talents were added to the mix, when Crisis Arm welcomed a second guitarist. Together they deliver honest and raw orchestrations. Crisis Arm have had a monumentally triumphant year for an artist which include tape releases and teaming up with Mayfly Records,  Family Time Records and one of our most mentioned- Already Dead Tapes and Records. Going on the success and love they’ve received this year, next year holds only the best for the three.

The best gig you have played(or put on) this year and why

The best show we played/put on this year was Kevin’s birthday show at The Dial in Murrieta, CA because all of our friends played with us and we all had an amazing time!

The best gig you have attended and why

The best gig we have attended this year was FYF in Los Angeles, CA. So many great bands played and we got to spend the whole weekend of the fest hanging out with our friends and eating really good vegan food.

2014 plans

Our plans for 2014 are to put out an LP on Mayfly Records, tour to SXSW and also a 2-week+ tour supporting our LP in the Unite States.

We can’t thank Crisis Arm enough, big things on the cards for this band and we can only wish them the best.
