Nat Jenkins & The Heart Caves
‘Now Here This’
Nat Jenkins signed to the hipster Camouflage label early 2013, released a few low key singles which garnered overwhelming amounts of radio play from the new music tastemakers at stations like XFM and Amazing Radio, worked with Havas and the world champion free-runners to soundtrack a TV ad which has gained almost 1,000,000 views online alone – all the meanwhile penning his first studio album.
Recorded between London’s Dean Street Studios, Paris’ Sentier Studios and Jenkins’ bathroom on the Rue de Minilmontant the record retains enough scruffy edges and reverb to charm; the corrosive, gritty guitar layers often yearning to be pop songs. To quote BBC London’s Gary Crowley, “this is back to basics rock & roll”, capturing the beauty and simplicity of punk. Jenkins formidable force however is his intellect, the bands slice of raw and infectious post-punk disguise a confessional, introspective and generation defining tale of woe, delivered with complete conviction.
Jenkins’ songwriting owes to traditional rock & roll, blues and traditional folk influences, honed with the like of Chris Kimsey, Mick Jones and Richard Norris with whom he has worked extensively, though as much is to be credited to five years of tenacious touring through Europe and America.
‘Now Here This’ the debut studio album from Nat Jenkins & The Heart Caves is released 14rd November through Camouflage Recordings
