Back in April we introduced you to The Music Pool a brilliant music charity with a dedicated team and a fantastic prospect right on your doorstep. Circuit Sweet have come together to work with The Music Pool and whilst our members take onboard their new challenges with the charity- We as Circuit Sweet have taken it upon ourselves to promote awareness of this inspirational music charity and the passionate members who put the Music Pool first. For those unaware, The Music Pool is an established Community music charity for Herefordshire (and its borders) that passionately dedicates time to providing chances for people of all ages and abilities to make music together. For over 20 years, Music Pool has Provided creative ways for those with least opportunity to connect with others, mostly through music and music-making of all kind’s, but also with dancers, dramatists, writers, poets, puppets, painters, potters and carnival artists – always making new opportunities for everyone to join in. Played all kinds of music and song with all kinds of people, right across the board, because it’s such a powerful way of enriching people’s lives, of boosting the life of our communities, and of creating a sense of belonging. Worked with professional musicians and teachers to provide an essential lifeline to a broad range of vulnerable people who are marginalised or isolated from mainstream society. Provided an extraordinarily wide range of activities – whether for just a day or over several years, whether you’re 2 or 102, and across such a broad spectrum that you may well have come across what they do without even realizing it!
Another area The Music Pool promotes is the power music possess. Music, as we are all aware unites people. With this Music Pool operates Livewire, under this moniker the team promotes gigs, workshops, training opportunities and music development weeks for young people in and around Herefordshire. The established Community based music charity for Herefordshire (and its borders) passionately dedicates time to providing chances for people of all ages and abilities to make music together- the last time we mentioned a week similar was during the Easter Half Term, Through the final weeks of July of this year during the first few weeks of this years summer holidays, half of Circuit Sweet joined the Music Pool team during a Livewire campaign. Our Very own Oli Montez spent a week working on band development for Livewire. He explains his role and the event they worked hard towards –
My job for the week was to work with a band to develop their sound and highlight the core of what they wanted to achieve as a basis for them to expand on and create original material; also to share knowledge on industry, equipment, dynamics and performance. Through the course of the week I also documented the process through photography and film. The goal of the week was to put on a spectacular live performance at The Jailhouse Hereford for the public, family and friends – and that’s exactly what we did. Around 100 people attended to see original material from acoustic performances to full on rock bands. It was amazing to see up and coming local talent first hand, we have a lot to look forward to.”
This really is fantastic local charity who offer an incredible amount to young musicians and music lovers. Keep up to date with all of the events that Music Pool run by checking their website at- http://www.musicpool.org.uk
