Hailed as “one of the best young bands in America” Illinois indie-rock quartet Filligar are set to release their new album Hexagon on September 23rd through Decade Records.

In Hexagon, Filligar have refined their sound to produce one of the most exciting modern rock releases of 2013. Having previously played with the likes of The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes and My Morning Jacket, the band will return to the UK later this year.

The lineup – three Mathias brothers and Casey Gibson – remains unchanged since the band’s early days recording and performing as teenagers in Chicago. Live performance is the band’s lifeblood. They’ve been named one of music’s ‘Next Big Things’ by SPIN Magazine and listed along with Wilco and Delta Spirit ‘One of America’s Top 8 Live Acts’ (Boston’s RSL music blog).

The U.S. Department of State recently honored Filligar with an appointment as cultural ambassadors as part of the Arts Envoys program, which “shares the best of the U.S. arts community with the world.” This summer they will travel to Azerbaijan for performance and workshops as part of the program.

Despite being a young band, Filligar has produced a prolific catalogue of original music, called “a breath of fresh air” by the powerhouse Consequence of Sound and recognized by the American Society of Composers, Authors, & Publishers (ASCAP) as “of prestige value.” Their previous release The Nerve was nominated for a 2012 Independent Music Award for Best Rock Album.

Their new LP, Hexagon will be released on September 23rd.
