PHILADELPHIA, PA – Punk rock photographer Mark Beemer, founder of The Syrentha J. Savior Endowment (SSE) and Shirts For A Cure (SFAC), recently announced the launch of a new IndieGoGo campaign to fund the re-release of his discontinued book of live show and press images, Stealing Time. First published in 2001, the book features images from Beemer’s two-plus decades as a staple on the punk and hardcore scenes. The book contains a number of updated images including punk and pop-punk stalwarts such as Rise Against and My Chemical Romance, as well as photos of scene veterans The Bouncing Souls and Hot Water Music.
Beemer partnered with students from Drexel University’s Music Industry Program who launched the IndieGoGo campaign earlier this week. Undergrads in the Bantic Media class have been working with Beemer since September, and were responsible for implementing almost every phase of the project. Contributors to the campaign have the opportunity to receive perks for every level of giving, ranging from a thank you tweet for $5, a copy of the revised book for $30, and the once-in-a-lifetime chance to host a private Bouncing Souls show for a $50,000 donation.
The IndieGoGo Campaign to fund Stealing Time ends April 9, 2013. Once the book has been funded, all proceeds from its sales will go directly to SSE to help underprivileged women battling breast cancer. ABOUT THE SYRENTHA J. SAVIO ENDOWMENT
The Syrentha J. Savio Endowment (SSE) was established by punk-rock photographer Mark Beemer in 2002. SSE provides financial assistance to underprivileged women who cannot afford expensive breast cancer medicine and therapy. For more information, please visit www.syrentha.org.
ABOUT SHIRTS FOR A CURE
The Shirts For A Cure Project (SFAC) was launched by SSE to give voice to the social concerns of punk bands and their many fans as well as to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention. When a band donates a shirt design to SFAC, the design becomes exclusive to SSE. We sell the shirt and use the proceeds to help women fighting breast cancer.
