You press play and the bassline crawls up your spine, burrowing a hole in your head for the guitars to jump in and set up camp. The vocals kick in and you nod along, before the chorus has you grabbing at the lights that weren’t flickering before; this was how it felt listening to Veils for the first time. Tidal Wars sent us a demo of this track some months ago and we knew it was something special, right away we knew that this was a band that we had to release in the future: they are young, confident and have no qualms about doing things their own way; musically and artistically. Tidal Wars have dragged their sprawling noise from the vacuous Weston Super Mare (see also label mates Towns) and have successfully captivated the new Bristol scene; their discordant effortlessness earning them more praise every show they play. This double A Side single is a perfect introduction to the band. You will receive it on a memory stick, housed in a match box full of miniature hand made art, so a real treat before you even get to the music. You can’t not love this band.
