Theme Park Announce New Single ‘Jamaica’ + Unveil New Video‏

June 30, 2012

Theme Park are pleased to announce the release of their new single ‘Jamaica’. Due on August 13 on Transgressive Records, this fine slice of laid-back pop is the perfect soundtrack to kick-start the summer.

Miles Haughton’s good-time writing techniques shine through on ‘Jamaica’ the sound of which is indicative of Theme Park’s ability to create rhythmic, euphoric, pop music. Remixes on the single will come from Becoming Real & Gigamesh.

Over the last couple of months, the threesome – Miles plus twin brother Marcus and Oscar Manthorpe – have been holed up in the studio writing & recording their debut album with Luke Smith. Theywill unleash their debut album later this year, and their aim is for it to make an unabashed pop statement. “I want it to be appreciated as a pop album, not the debut of some East London band making leftfield stuff,” says Miles. “Some albums you listen to and every song is nicely formed. That’s what we’re aiming for. It should all feel effortless and un-self conscious.”

Having just kicked off the festival season at TGE, Field Day and more recently supporting The Maccabees at Ibiza Rocks, they are also excited to confirm what future shows lie ahead. The full list of festivals below includes a headline slot at Knee Deep festival in Cornwall, Lounge on the Farm, Latitude, Truck and this years’ Reading & Leeds Festival. Post summer, they will be heading out as the main support on Bloc Party’s UK tour in October.
