“This is easily one of the best rap records I’ve heard all year.” – Vice

“The aggressive energy of a punk act and just the right amount of hip hop swagger.” – VH1

“Doomtree got their early inspiration as an entity somewhere between the form-like-Voltron Wu-Tang enclave’s early underground mythbuilding and Fugazi’s community-building independence.” – Pitchfork

The Minnesotan collective Doomtree are all set to take Europe by storm in May as they play a clutch of dates across the continent including several as main support for Yelawolf. They’re excited to finally get over here “Doomtree has spent the last ten years racking up miles on beat-up tour vans–and we’re ridiculously excited to log some frequent flyer miles. We’re a sizable collective, which makes traveling expensive, but we’ve worked for a long time to make a European tour a reality. We put everything we’ve got into our live shows, and I think this new audience will be able to see how much we love what we do and the crew we do it with.”

To coincide with this visit across the pond, they will be releasing single ‘Bangarang’ as a free download on 28th May, along with B-side ‘Fresh New Trash’. The guys say of the track “We wrote and demoed most of the album (No Kings) over a five day period out at a cabin in the middle of nowhere, and ‘Bangarang’ was one of the last songs we ended up making out there. Mike’s chorus really set the tone for the whole reflective “decade in our lane” subject matter.”

The accompanying music video features a guest turn from the inimitable Har Mar Superstar as he takes a turn on karaoke along with the crew. Doomtree recall its production as being a lot of fun – “We were in New York for a few days during the CMJ music conference last year, and we knew it would be one of the only times schedule wise to get all 7 of us in the same room before the album dropped (in the US). Our long time friend and video collaborator Isaac Gale had the idea to throw a little party in a karaoke room and get our homie Har Mar Superstar to memorize ‘Bangarang’ and run around lip syncing like a maniac. Watching everybody bust out some their dance moves in front of the green screen was the best.”

Doomtree are known for their explosive live shows, their ferociously DIY ethic, and their blatant disregard for the conventions of their genre. All seven members of Doomtree have built solo careers as rappers, producers, or DJs. (Roster cheat sheet: P.O.S, Dessa, Sims, Cecil Otter, Mike Mictlan, Lazerbeak, Paper Tiger.) The collective has a well-earned reputation for aggressive, innovative production that spans genre and era—borrowing from punk, classical, obscure rock, experimental, and foreign styles.
