Yeah Great Fine. Something we all say when we just don’t care. Perhaps a comment on the general malaise of our generation (ourselves included). Mostly, an ironically spiritless label for a band that is anything but. Yeah Great Fine was born, like many bands, of a shared practice space and newly found free time, but also of a desire to create something new and vital.

We’ve all played in several bands and have seen countless others, and too often we walk away thinking, “I’ve heard that before”. It’s trite, but we wanted to make music that simply didn’t exist yet; to share with audiences the sheer joy that we feel when we discover something completely unique.

Our influences are many: the lush vocal harmonies of the Beach Boys, the heavily layered approach of bands like Battles and Maps & Atlases, the pulsing groove of Ratatat, the dense polymeter of traditional West African rhythms and the counterpoint of the Strokes (and even J.S. Bach).

Known for our energetic and infectious live shows, we made a name for ourselves in the local Portland scene playing any party we could. Since then we have built our way up to playing some of Portland’s most respected venues (Doug Fir Lounge, Mississippi Studios, Wonder Ballroom).

Most of the band (4/5 members) has spent time in Jared Mees & Grown Children, so early on we were taken under the wing of Jared Mees, who also owns Tender Loving Empire (Typhoon, Finn Riggins, Y La Bamba) and he has been an indispensable resource for us.

We’ve shared the stage with national acts such as the Walkmen, Free Energy (toured with Weezer), Foreign Born, as well as beloved West Coast bands such as Finn Riggins (toured with Built To Spill), Tartufi, and Typhoon. We have 40+ shows in Portland, several regional tours and a full west coast tour under our belt and are currently booking longer tours for the future.

You can now listen to brand new single “Bright Lights” off of the upcoming Circadian EP due for release October 1st. Tour dates are also soon to follow.

Circadian EP 7″ Vinyl will be released October 1st on 20 sided Records. All donations go to getting Yeah Great Fine on the road.
Produced by Paul Laxer.
