Baltimore, Maryland’s hardcore heavyweights, Trapped Under Ice, have teamed with Revolver Magazine to premiere “Oblivion” another pummeling cut from their long-awaited new full length, Heatwave, due out July 21st via Pop Wig Records.

While “Oblivion” is the closest thing to Trapped Under Ice‘s signature sound found on Heatwave, the track is still a perfect representation of the band’s modern direction, one that’s completely unrestrained by genre confines and emphasizes groove and hooks more than ever before. Revolver noted “fans will recognize the band’s command of the d-beat into the half-speed chorus into the start-stop rhythms of the finale. But the brevity of it all is very much Trapped Under Ice of 2017: immediately hooking you in and leaving you wanting more.”

Trapped Under Ice has a lengthy run of U.S. tour dates lined up in support of Heatwave, including a just-announced West Coast leg with Forced Order, Gag, and more.  See full itinerary below.

When Trapped Under Ice went on hiatus in 2013 their impact was felt, whether directly through the new bands formed by TUI-alums themselves (most notably Turnstile and Angel Du$t), or indirectly in the sonic influence taken by many young up-and-coming HC bands, many of which have now released music through Pop Wig Records, the label founded by several Trapped Under Ice members. Now everything has come full circle as Trapped Under Ice return with Heatwave, continuing to hold their never-vacated mantle as one of hardcore’s most forward-thinking bands.

Trapped Under Ice have always colored outside the lines, often treating hardcore’s conventions as loose guidelines to be shifted and warped into something driven just as much by hooks as by breakdowns. On 2011’s modern classic, Big Kiss GoodnightTrapped Under Ice began to lean into their catchier sensibilities, and now Heatwave finds the band fully embracing that side of themselves and writing their most concise and infectious work to-date. The album’s tight fourteen minute run time leaves no room for filler, just eleven lean tracks of aggressively groovy, hook-filled hardcore, at once exuberant and kinetic but undeniably raw.

Biography:
Ten years after their first release, Trapped Under Ice brings you Heatwave. This phat LP is short, fast and hardcore; the way Straight Ahead intended, but played more like Fury of Five and Breakdown at a backyard party. For punks who’ve considered throwing a spin kick in jean shorts. Rhythmically, Heatwave is like a trailer park Sepultura. Check it out if you f*ck with what TUI has been doing for the last decade. The same, but different.
