Due Out September 1st via
Exploding In Sound Records’ Tape Club

Share “Tiger Baby” (feat. Jordyn Blakely) with Stereogum

Exploding In Sound Records is thrilled to introduce you to Maneka, the long-awaited solo debut of Devin McKnight (Grass Is Green, ex-Speedy Ortiz). While McKnight has been an enormous force in every band he’s played in, Maneka is the first time he’s handling the entirety of the songwriting and vocals (outside his hip-hop projects: Dirwin Magic Jansen, Indiana Pacers). “Tiger Baby,” premiering today on Stereogum, is a damn fine debut, capturing the sound McKnight calls “future-space alien-dream-punk” on his first love song. The single features guest harmonies from Jordyn Blakely (Stove, Jackal Onasis), complimenting the disorienting melody with a warm glow.

Stereogum called it “an engine-revving tune with the lurching distortion of distressed guitars at its centerfold, elevated by the plush guest vocals of Jordyn Blakely.”

Speaking about “Tiger Baby,” Devin shared, “That’s what my lady calls me. If you look in her phone, next to my contact is the tiger emoji and a baby bottle emoji. Apparently I exhibit large feline qualities along with the qualities of an infant. I guess the overall theme is it’s nice when someone still loves you even with your many faults.”
