Be Charlotte are fronted by teenager Charlotte Brimner who is already regarded as one of the most prestigious and cutting edge songwriters on the Scottish music scene, illustrating a rare ability to transcend genres with ease; incorporating pop, hip-hop, beatboxing, electro and indie pop, crafting unmistakable soundscapes that are as playful as they are poignant. Tackling social issues her listeners can easily identify with, Be Charlotte creates vibrant, captivating music while skilfully integrating intelligent, affecting songwriting. This is evident on One Drop, co-produced by Charlotte and Marcus Mackay (DrivingBell lounge) which was inspired by the sense of being unable to clearly see what’s in front of you, capturing the idea that, once something is done, it can’t be changed. Ultimately, the way we deal with the situation, finding solutions along the way, is more important than the problem itself.

Her unorthodox approach has picked up a well of support; Be Charlotte have already charted in the viral Top 50 on Spotify, been playlisted on Radio X’s evening playlist and accrued support at BBC Radio 1.

Comprised of Charlotte (programming, guitar, keys, vocals), James Smith (keyboard, bass) and David Calder (drums), the trio recently returned from a tour of South East Asia playing in Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam and Hong Kong, as well as spending two weeks recording at Karma Studios where The Libertines and Placebo recently recorded their albums. Bookending a successful year, Be Charlotte have received acclaim from Huw Stephens and Radio X, and have been confirmed to play SXSW 2017 in Austin, Texas. They have also been named one of The Great Escape’s First Fifty and have been chosen as one of only two acts representing the BBC at Eurosonic Festival. Be Charlotte is due to appear on the BBC Introducing Stage at Eurosonic on Friday January 13th 2017 and, as if this wasn’t enough, she was invited to play at the world famous Hogmanay celebrations in Edinburgh at the end of 2016 alongside Paolo Nutini, The Charlatans and Frightened Rabbit.

One Drop by Be Charlotte is due for release on 20th January 2017 via AWAL / Kobalt Label Service and is available to stream on Spotify now.
