CRYSTAL FAIRY SHARE THE TITLE TRACK FROM THEIR NEW ALBUM,
UPCOMING VIA IPECAC RECORDINGS 24TH FEB
Primal new rock band Crystal Fairy, the new group featuring Le Butcherettes’ Teri Gender Bender, the Melvins’ Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover with At The Drive-In’s Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, share a third track from their self-titled debut (to be released via Ipecac Recordings on Feb 24th). It might seem like an unlikely musical match up until you hear the primal pounding energy that’s psychedelic, psychotic, off kilter, unsafe and uncommon.
The title track “Crystal Fairy” debuted on Iggy Pop’s show on BBC 6 Music last Friday, with Henry Rollins filling in. Conjuring and fiendish, “Crystal Fairy” brilliantly demonstrates Teri exploring her demented obsessions lyrically while the band lays down a driving musical force field of whip smart powerful noise. About the origins of the track, Teri Gender Bender remarks…”Panic attacks are man’s worst enemy but our most powerful mental invention, somehow we’ve managed to use them to calm our nerves down and let the music flow. Sometimes the agony within the self makes it appropriate to let the jittery hands do the story telling.”

Crystal Fairy’s debut live shows are taking place in the U.S. in February.

…and here’s hoping there’s European dates in the pipeline.
More about the meeting of these minds…
“When the Melvins toured with Le Butcherettes, Teri would come out at the end of the set and do ‘Rebel Girl’ with us,” explained drummer Dale Crover. “It was almost always the highlight of the show! From doing that, we knew there was some chemistry between us that was worth exploring. We became close friends with both Teri and Omar on the tour and came up with the idea of starting a new band with them.”

“Omar caught up with us on the Melvins’ tour because he is an admirer. Through the travels, the Melvins and Omar connected as well,” offered singer Teri Gender Bender.“Sometimes, Omar and I would fantasise loudly of hopefully being able to form a power together. Before we knew it, we were writing music in the studio (both in El Paso and L.A.) and birthed a magical little gem that I am extremely proud to be a part of.”

“The Melvins have had many different line-ups, and we’ll continue to mix things up but with Crystal Fairy, working with Teri and Omar, I knew this was something different and deserved to have its own identity,” said singer/guitar player Buzz Osborne.
