Canadian four-piece JPNSGRLS have announced the release of their second album Divorce out on 22 July via Light Organ Records.

To mark the album announcement, JPNSGRLS have released a special video for album track Oh My God.  Produced by Brass Tracks Films, the video stars the band and was shot live, on one camera and in one take.

The video can now be viewed and shared via YouTube, following its premiere on MOSH, whilst the audio of the track is also available as an instant gratitude download track on all pre-orders of Divorce from iTunes from today.

JPNSGRLS are singer and lyricist Charlie Kerr, bassist Chris McClelland, guitarist Colton Lauro, and drummer Graham Serl. Their sound is an amalgamation of independent creativity, a textured blend of bold garage-rock. The driving dominance of the Serl-McClelland rhythm section pumping out masterful and edgy layers, combined with the well-placed cross-section of electric guitar tones is a strand running throughout new album Divorce. From the instantly recognizable guitar riff of Bully For You that carries the intro into an explosive full-band attack, to the immediate punch of reverb-laden strums as the opening notes in Oh My God, to the pulsating drum beat and rapid fire guitar in A Girl From A Different Dimension; which harks comparisons to your favourite catchy rock groups from the early 2000s – be it The Hives, The Strokes or The Libertines – and those stunning guitar effects on Trojan Horse.

Whilst JPNSGRLS debut Circulation (2014, Light Organ Records) saw the band’s energetic indie-rock compared to bands such as Artic Monkeys and Hot Hot Heat, new record Divorce is of a more mature, melodic alternative-rock sound without losing any of JPNSGLS infectious energy.

Lyrically, Charlie Kerr moves away from predictable ‘indie-rock’ clichés, with Divorce being essentially a collection of unorthodox love songs; about letting go rather than holding on, about love as a two-way street, about what could have been, and about how we approach love in the modern world.

A much lauded live band, the songs of Divorce were road tested from Singapore to the UK and back again to North America, before the band went into the Los Angeles studio with producer/engineer Dave Shiffman (Rage Against The Machine, The Mars Volta, Biffy Clyro) and Monarch Studios in their hometown of Vancouver with Tom Dobrzanski (The Zolas, Said The Whale) followed by Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat, Mounties, Fur Trade).
